How to Solve Windows Installer Java Problems
How to Solve Windows Installer Java Problems
1. Close the Windows Installer package and restart your computer.
2. Uninstall any remnants of past Java installations, as well as the initial files from the failed Java Runtime Environment installation attempt. Leaving leftover files will cause the Windows Installer package to experience errors again. Visit the Microsoft website and download the Windows Installer Clean-Up program (see link in Resources).
3. Double-click the installer file you downloaded in Step 2. The Windows installation wizard will appear on the screen. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation of the Windows Installer Clean-Up program. Close the wizard upon completion.
4. Click the Start menu in the lower left-hand corner of the screen. Select 'All Programs' and click 'Windows Install Clean Up Utility' to launch the clean-up software. A list of installed programs will be displayed.
5. Locate the Java software in the list of installed programs. Click 'Remove' and close the clean-up utility upon completion.
6. Visit the Java website and download the offline installation file for the Java software. If you install the file offline rather than through the Java website, you can circumvent the Windows Installer Java problems you are experiencing.
7. Double-click the downloaded file to install Java. Restart your computer when finished.
