1. Don't panic. When your desktop goes blue, you'll get the same feeling in your gut that you get when you're speeding and you see police lights flash on in your rearview mirror. The Blue Screen Virus won't be the death of your computer.
Print this article so you can follow the directions when you're dealing with the Blue Screen Virus. (You won't be able to open any programs while you're killing the virus, including Internet Explorer or Firefox, so it's best if you have this in your hands). Do not do anything that these instructions do not tell you to do.
2. Type 'SmitFraudFix' or 'SmitFraudFix.exe' in your Internet search bar and press 'Enter.'

3. When 'SmitFraudFix' comes up on the search list, choose a website with the SmitFraudFix.exe program and download it. Save the file to your desktop so that it's easily accessible. Click on the 'Show desktop' icon to ensure that the program is on your desktop.
4. Close all open programs.
5. Restart your computer.
6. As the computer restarts, press F8 continuously until a menu screen appears with a list of Boot Options.
7. Click on '1. Run Windows in Safe Mode.' Wait until the computer restarts and log in. The desktop will appear in Safe Mode with big pixelated icons.
8. If there are any windows open (there shouldn't be any unless the computer or the Blue Screen Virus prompts them to open), close them. Click on the 'SmitFraudFix.exe' icon on the desktop to start the program.
9. Press the space bar to get past the SmitFraudFix.exe credits screen and a menu will appear.
10. Press '2' on your keyboard to select 'Clean (safe mode recommended).' SmitFraudFix.exe will clean the Blue Screen Virus and anything associated with it from your computer. This may take awhile depending on the speed of your computer.
11. When SmitFraudFix.exe is done cleaning your computer, the Windows Disk Cleanup program will clean immediately thereafter. Do not press 'Cancel.'
12. When Windows Disk Cleanup is finished cleaning, SmitFraudFix.exe will offer to clean your system registry. Press 'Y' and 'Enter' to allow the program to clean your system registry.
13. A red screen will appear that says 'Computer will reboot now. Close all applications.' Press the spacebar to close SmitFraudFix.exe.
14. Allow the system to reboot and log in. SmitFraudFix.exe will automatically open a notepad file with a log of the infections it has killed. Close the notepad and try surfing the web for awhile to ensure that the Blue Screen Virus is completely gone. If there are no pop-ups and you're not directed to web pages to which you don't want to go, then the virus is eradicated. You can then delete SmitFraudFix.exe from your computer.
