Basic Registry Correction
1. Open the Registry Editor. In Windows XP, click the Start button in the lower left of your screen, then 'Run,' and type 'Regedit.exe' and click 'OK.' In Windows Vista or 7, click the Start button, type 'Regedit' in the search box and click the 'Regedit.exe' result.
2. Navigate to 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders' in the Registry Editor. Use the file hierarchy displayed in the left pane to find the correct folder.

3. Compare the registry values displayed on your screen to the table provided by Microsoft. There are different tables for different versions of Windows. If all the data matches up, you do not need to take any action in this registry section.
4. Correct the values one by one that do not match the information from Microsoft. Delete the values by right-clicking them and selecting 'Delete.' Create a new, correct value by clicking the 'Edit' menu at the top of the window, then 'New,' then 'Expandable String Value.' Type the name provided by Microsoft for the new key that displays. Lastly, right-click the value you just created, click 'Modify' and type the text that Microsoft lists under 'Value data.' After correcting all values, close the Registry Editor and restart your computer.
5. Repeat this process exactly in the 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders' location of the Registry Editor. Use the corresponding list from Microsoft.
