How to Solve Windows Media Player Plugin Problems

Posted on Monday, April 18, 2011 | Comments Off

1. Right-click Windows Media Player and run it as administrator.
2. Click the 'Tools' option and choose 'Plug-ins.'

3. Click one of the plug-ins with a check mark next to its name. This disables the plug-in. Load the file that caused Windows Media Player to display an error or shut down.
4. Note whether Media Player performs normally with the disabled plug-in. If the software returns to normal with the disabled plug-in, click the plug-in and remove it. If not, perform Step 3 on the remaining plug-ins to identify the damaged one.
5. Visit the Microsoft website to download and reinstall plug-ins.
