How to Fix a Windows Runtime Error

Find the conflicting program
1. Click the Start menu and select 'Run...' Type 'msconfig' (without the quotes) and press 'Enter' key. This will launch your 'System Configuration Utility.'
2. Click the tab labeled 'General.' Click 'Selective Startup.' Click to clear the check boxes next to the following: 'Process SYSTEM.INI,' 'Process WIN.INI' and 'Load Startup Items.'

3. Click the tab labeled 'Services.' Place a check mark next to 'Hide All Microsoft Services.'
4. Click to choose 'Disable All.' Click the tab labeled 'Startup' and select 'Disable All.' Place a check mark next to one of the programs.
5. Restart your computer. If you see the runtime error, then the program you checked (in Step 4) is the conflicting program. If not, repeat the above steps until you find the conflicting program.
6. Navigate to 'Add or Remove programs' tool in 'Control Panel' to remove the conflicting program.
Update Windows
7. Click the Start menu and select 'All Programs.'
8. Scroll up and locate 'Windows Update.' Click 'Check for updates.'
9. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete installing the updates.
10. Restart your computer.
Remove malware
11. Click Start menu and select 'Run...'
12. Type 'MRT' without the quotes and press 'Enter.' This will open 'Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool.' Click 'Next.'
13. Select 'Full Scan' to scan your hard disk for malicious programs or virus(es) that may be generating the runtime errors.
14. Follow on-screen instructions to remove any malware that it may have detected.
15. Restart your computer.
