How to Fix an Internet Explorer Runtime Error

1. Open Internet Explorer. Click 'Tools' at the top of IE. Select 'Internet Options' and the Internet Options window will appear. Seven tabs are located at the top of that window. Click the 'Advanced' tab. Once you do, a scroll box will appear in the middle of the window. Scroll down until you see 'Disable script debugging (Internet Explorer)' and 'Disable script debugging (other).' Click on both of these options and a check mark should appear in the boxes next to those options. Then, click 'Apply' at the bottom of the window. Click 'OK' to close the window.
2. Change the security settings in Internet Explorer. Open the Internet Options window in IE once more. This time, click the 'Security' tab. Then, click the 'Default level' button in the middle of the window. Click 'Apply' and then 'OK' when you're done.

3. Check your computer for spyware and adware. Any of these infections could cause you to experience runtime errors while using Internet Explorer. Remember to close Internet Explorer and update your anti-spyware/adware program before you run a scan.
4. Run a separate scan for viruses on your computer. Viruses, like spyware, can cause a 'Runtime Error' message to appear on your screen when you are trying to open a web page with Internet Explorer. Just as in Step 3, you should close IE and then update your anti-virus software before you scan the computer.
