Update Driver
1. Click 'Start,' then select 'Control Panel.'
2. Click 'System and Security,' then click 'Device Manager' under the 'System' heading.

3. Click the small arrow next to 'DVD/CD-ROM Drives' and right-click on the CD burner.
4. Select 'Properties' from the pop-up menu, then click the 'Driver' tab. Click the 'Update Driver' button. The Update Driver Software window opens.
5. Click 'Search Automatically for Updated Driver Software.' Windows searches the Internet for an updated version of the CD burner's driver, then automatically installs it.
Update Firmware
6. Launch a Web browser and go to the support section of your computer manufacturer's website.
7. Use the search options to locate the model of your computer. Click the 'Software,' 'Downloads' or 'Firmware' section. Alternatively, you can select the 'Downloads,' 'Drivers and Downloads' or 'Software Downloads' tab on the Support page if applicable.
8. Select the option to update the firmware for your computer's CD burner. Click the 'Download' button and save the file to your computer.
9. Double-click the file, then follow the instructions from the Firmware installation wizard to update the CD burner's firmware. Click 'Finish' after the wizard updates the firmware.
