1. Close all of the programs running in the background before starting the Symantec software.
2. Click the 'Start' button and then click the 'Find' button. Type 'TEMP' into the blank and press the 'Enter' key. Open all of the 'TEMP' folders and delete the files inside of them.

3. Run the program. If there is still an error, continue with the following steps.
4. Press the 'Start' button and then click the 'Run' box. Type 'regedit' into the box and type 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem.' Scroll to the 'NtfsDisable8dot3NameCreation' entry. Set the key to '0' instead of '1.'
5. Insert the Symantec install computer disc into the computer. Click on the 'InstmsiW.exe' file and follow the prompts to re-install the program on the computer.
6. Run the Symantec software. This should clear up any error codes.
