1. Click 'Start,' then 'Control Panel.' The Control Panel opens.
2. Double-click 'System and Maintenance,' then click 'Problem Reports and Solutions.'

3. Click 'Check for New Solutions.' Windows will scan your computer and determine if there is a solution to your problem. If there is, a link will appear under 'Solutions to Install.' Click this link and follow the step-by-step instructions. If the problem is still not solved, you must update Windows.
4. Click 'Start,' 'All Programs,' and 'Windows Update.'
5. Click 'Check for Updates,' and then click 'Install Updates' to install any available updates. Windows updates often include new drivers and fixes to common problems. If the problem is still not solved, continue to the next step.
6. Insert the Windows installation disc and restart your computer.
7. Click any key to start the Windows installation disc.
8. Choose your 'language' from the dropdown menu, then click 'Next.'
9. Click 'Repair Your Computer,' then select the operating system you want to repair and click 'Next.'
10. Click 'Startup Repair' and follow the prompts as Windows tries to fix the problem. If the problem is still not fixed, you likely have a hardware problem and should contact your computer manufacturer.
