1. Prevent a runtime error message from appearing, according to Support.Microsoft.com, by clicking the following in order: 'Tools,' 'Internet Options,' 'Advanced,' 'Disable script debugging(Internet Explorer)' and 'Disable script debugging(other).' If the problem disappears, proceed to Step 5.
2. Run your anti-virus software. If you do not have an anti-virus program, get one. While some programs cost money, you can find free programs such as ClamWin and PCTools. If the problem disappears, proceed to Step 5.

3. Uninstall the program that causes the Microsoft runtime error. (Be sure you have the disk or program available to reinstall later.) Click the 'Start' button in the lower left-hand corner of your computer, and then click 'Control Panel,' 'Programs' and 'Programs and Features.' Choose the program that is causing your runtime error, and click 'Uninstall.' Reinstall the program. If the problem disappears, proceed to Step 5.
4. Run a registry scanner. If you do not have a registry scanner and cleaner, you can download free programs such as RegCure and Eusing Free Registry Cleaner. After downloading your registry cleaner, run the program to verify whether the cleaner has fixed the Microsoft runtime error..
5. Restart your computer. Open the program that caused your runtime error to be sure the error no longer appears.
