1. Click the Microsoft Windows 'Start' button, and then click 'Run.' Type 'cmd' in the text field and press the 'Enter' key on your keyboard. (If you are using Windows 7, click the 'Start' button, type 'cmd' in the text field and press the 'Enter' key on your keyboard.)The Command Prompt window appears, in which you can type and execute commands.
2. Type 'scanreg /fix' without quotation marks and press the 'Enter' key on your keyboard. Wait for the process to complete; the process should take a few minutes. This program scans the Windows Registry database for errors and repairs any errors found.

3. Restart Microsoft Windows. The errors within the Windows Registry should be resolved when the operating system restarts.
