1. Go to 'Start,' 'Settings' and 'Control Panel.' Click 'Add/Remove Programs and look for the 'Microsoft Virtual Private Network Adapter.' Disable the option if you find it by clicking the 'Add/Remove' button.
2. Go to 'Start,' 'Control Panel' and right-click on the 'Network' icon. Click the 'Delete' option. Click 'OK' and reboot the computer. Use this option if you could not find the 'Microsoft Virtual Private Network Adapter' under 'Add/Remove Programs.
3. Upgrade to Windows XP using your upgrade disk or use the Windows 98 system as you normally do.
