1. Disable 'Auto-PC restart' so that the computer does not reboot whenever the blue screen error is displayed. If the computer still boots the operating system, click 'Start,' 'Control Panel,' 'System and Maintenance,' 'System,' and then 'Advanced System Settings.' Select the 'Advanced' tab and then 'Settings' under 'Startup and Recovery.' Ensure that the check box for 'Automatically restart' is empty and then click 'OK.'
2. Undo the last action you did with the computer. If you cannot remember the task you were doing before the blue screen appeared, restore the system settings to an earlier time. Click 'Start,' type 'system restore' in the search box, and then select 'System Restore.' Select one of the restore points displayed on the list and follow the instructions until the system is restored. Proceed to the next step if restoring the system does not resolve the problem.

3. Run 'System Restore' using the Windows 7 installation CD if you can no longer boot the operating system. Place the Windows 7 installation CD in the optical drive and reboot the computer.
4. Press any key to boot from CD. If the computer does not prompt you to boot from CD, you will need to configure the computer settings (see Resources). Follow the on-screen prompts. Choose your language and preferences, and then select 'Repair your computer.' Select 'System Restore' in the System Recovery Options menu and follow the on-screen prompts until the computer is restored.
5. Reinstall the operating system if the blue screen continues to appear after performing the above troubleshooting steps (see Resources). If reinstalling the operating system still does not work, there may be a problem with one of the internal hardware devices on your computer, such as the video card or a multimedia card. Take you computer to the repair shop for professional assistance.
