1. Insert the 'Windows XP Installation' CD into your CD-Rom drive and restart your computer. Windows XP Installation is a bootable CD and thus the CD should run automatically. However, if prompted, press any key to 'Boot from CD.'
2. Press 'R' when the 'Welcome to Setup Screen' appears.

3. Press the number that appears next to 'Windows XP' (generally this will be 1).
4. Type your administrator password and press 'Enter.' The Recovery Console screen appears.
5. Type the following commands into the Recovery Console screen. Press 'Enter' after each command.cd system32ren msvcrt.dll msvcrt.oldF:cd \i386expand msvcrt.dl_ C:\windows\system32exit
6. Restart your computer when prompted.
