1. Locate the driver for the device that is generating the code 28 error message in the Device Manager. You can do this by locating the disk that came with the hardware that contains the driver or by visiting the manufacturer's website and downloading the driver.
2. Open the Device Manager on your computer by clicking on 'Start,' opening 'Control Panel,' clicking 'Administrative Tools' and selecting 'Device Manager.'

3. Right-click on the device that is generating the code 28 error message and select 'Properties.' Select the 'Driver' tab and click on the 'Update Driver' button. This will start the Hardware Update Wizard, which will ask you to select whether you want to install the driver manually or automatically. Choose the manual installation option, and then select the path to the driver that you downloaded or which is on the driver disk.
4. Restart your computer once the driver has been properly installed to ensure that the device is working properly and no longer generating a code 28 error.
