1. Click 'Start' and open the 'Control Panel.'
2. Open the 'Add/Remove Programs' list for XP or the 'Programs and Features' list for Vista and 7.

3. Click on the problematic update and press 'Remove' to uninstall.
4. Click 'Start,' click 'All Programs,' select 'Windows Update' or 'Microsoft Update' and follow the onscreen instructions for your particular version of Windows to redownload and reinstall the update to the registry.
