Fixing Common Internet Not Working Errors
1. Confirm that the computer is connected properly to the Internet. Check that the Internet modem is functioning properly and that all lights are powered up on the modem.
2. Click on the 'Internet' icon in the lower right-hand corner. This icon generally looks like two computer monitors connected back-to-back. If there is a blue dot, it indicates that the Internet should be fully functioning.

3. Right-click on the 'Internet' icon. Select the tab for 'Diagnose and Repair.' Wait for the system to perform its assessment and fix the Internet connection. Generally, this will fix any basic issue such as IP address conflict.
4. Reset Internet settings to default in Internet Explorer. Click the 'Start' button on the Windows desktop. Select the 'Search' tab and type in 'inetcpl.cpl' and press 'Enter.' By doing this, the Internet Options screen will open. Click on 'Advanced.' Select the 'Reset' tab and confirm that all Internet settings will be reversed to factory default.
5. Detach all wires from the computer unit. Wait 15 minutes before reinserting cables. Start the computer. In most cases, simply restarting the computer will resolve Internet not working issues.
6. Restore the computer to factory default. This will fully restore the computer to default settings and should correct the Internet connectivity problems. Viruses and spyware that may have compromised Internet functionality will be removed, ensuring that the Internet basics are up date.
7. Call the Internet Service Provider. Describe the problem and how frequently it occurs. Detail the steps already taken to give the technician an idea of what type of problem there is. This is normally the last step and is rarely needed. The prior steps will usually correct the Internet not working problem.
