1. First, make sure that you have this error code - Stop 0x00000024 or NTFS_FILE_SYSTEM.
2. This message shows that a problem occurred within Ntfs.sys, the driver file that allows the system to read and write to NTFS file system drives.

3. One possible problem is a malfunctioning SCSI and Advanced Technology Attachment (ATA) hardware or drivers. This can also adversely affect the system's ability to read and write to disk, causing errors. If the computer is using a SCSI hard drive, check both for cabling and termination problems between the SCSI controller and the disks. You will need to periodically check the Event Viewer for error messages related to SCSI or FASTFAT in the System log. You can also use Autochk in the Application log.
4. Try the following. First, Double-click My Computer, select the hard disk you want to check. Then, on the File menu, click Properties. Then, click the Tools tab. Next, in the Error-checking box, click Check Now.
Finally, in Check disk options, select the scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors check box. You can also select the Automatically fix file system errors check box.
