How to Fix a Windows Vista Update Error

1. Find the Vista installation disk and insert it into the computer's disk drive. Reboot the computer.
2. Press any key to boot the computer from the installation CD when the prompt appears.

3. Select the language settings for Vista, then click the 'Next' button.
4. Select the 'Repair your computer' option, then choose to repair Vista.
5. Choose the 'Startup Repair' option from the System Recovery Options menu that appears. You may be asked to make choices during the Startup Repair process. The computer may reboot to allow some repairs to take effect.
6. Open an Internet browser and go to Microsoft's official Windows Update page. Select the 'Express' option and wait while the list of updates is compiled. It may take a few minutes.
7. Look over the list of updates that appears and select to download them.
