1. Click the 'Start' button and type 'regedit' into the Search field, then click the 'Registry Editor' program.
2. Click 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE' in the left pane of the Registry Editor window.

3. Click the 'File' menu and choose 'Load Hive.'
4. Browse to the secondary hard drive's 'windows\system32\config' directory from the 'Load Hive' dialog box.
5. Click to select the 'System' or 'Software' file (no file suffixes) to open the respective registry hives. Type a temporary name and click 'Open' to open the hive.
6. Click the 'File' menu and choose 'Unload Hive' when you have finished editing the registry hive on the secondary drive.

1. Click on the Windows logo button to show the Start menu. Type 'system restore' into the search box at the bottom of the menu, then press 'Enter' to open the 'System Restore' utility.
2. Click the radio button next to 'Choose a different restore point,' then click the 'Next' button. If you don't see this option, then click the 'Next' button to proceed to the next page.

3. Read the date, time and description for the listed restore points. Figure out when the fatal system error started. If you don't know or can't remember, it's okay to guess.
4. Click to highlight your chosen restore point then click 'Next.'
5. Click the 'Finish' button on the 'Confirm your restore point' page. Wait while Windows automatically restores your operating system and files. After the computer restarts, a pop-up message will show on the screen stating whether the system restore was successful. If it was, future fatal system errors should no longer occur, because the problem has been repaired.

1. Click on the 'Start' button. Click 'Run.' Type the word 'cmd' in the open box. When the DOS screen comes up, type 'netsh winsock reset.' Press 'Enter.' Type 'exit' to close the DOS window and go back to Windows.
2. Restart the computer. Check to see if the problem is resolved. If it isn't, open the Windows Registry. Click 'Start' and type 'Run.' Type 'regedit' in the open box.

3. Select 'File' from the menu. Click 'Export.' Choose a location to export the Registry to. Name the exported file 'backup.reg.'
4. Choose the key 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.' Click the plus sign to expand the key. Click the key 'System' and expand it. Navigate to 'CurrentControlSet\Services\Winsock.' Right-click the 'Winsock' key and select 'Delete.' Click 'Yes' to confirm the deletion.
5. Navigate to 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Winsock2.' Right-click the 'Winsock2' key and delete it. Click 'Yes' to confirm. Exit the Registry Editor. Find the file 'backup.reg' that you exported and save it to a CD or disk. Restart the computer.
6. Right-click 'My Network Places' on the desktop. Right-click the network connection icon. Click 'Properties.' Click 'Install,' 'Protocol' and 'Add.' Click 'Have Disk' and type in 'c:\windows\inf.' Click 'OK.'
7. Choose 'Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)' from the list of available protocols. If it does not appear, click 'Start' and choose 'Search.' Check the options to search system folders, hidden files and folders, and subfolders. Search for the file 'nettcpip.inf.' Click 'Install.' Restart the computer.

1. Close down the program entirely that threw the R6205 runtime error message. Press 'Ctrl-Alt-Delete' and select 'Start Task Manager.'
2. Click the 'Processes' tab and click on the 'Image Name' column header. Scroll down through the list of programs and check to make sure the original program that gave the error message is not on the list. Click on the name of the program if it is in the list and choose 'End Process.'

3. Close the task manager window and click the Windows 'Start' button. Select 'Control Panel' and choose 'Uninstall a Program' under the Programs section. Select from the list of currently installed programs the program that caused the error and click 'Uninstall.
4. Click on the Windows 'Start' button, type 'cleanmgr' into the Search field and press 'Enter.' Click on 'Files from all users' if it asks and select 'Continue.' Choose the drive where the program was installed, check the boxes next to 'Temporary Internet Files,' 'Temporary Files,' 'Recycle Bin,' 'Downloaded Program Files' and 'Setup Log Files.' Click 'OK' and select 'Delete Files.'
5. Wait for the program to finish cleaning the files on your hard drive. Re-start the computer. Insert the installation CD for the program you deleted earlier or go to the website of the manufacturer and download the program again. Install the program.
6. Open the software program by double-clicking on its desktop icon or clicking on the name of the program in the 'Start' menu under All Programs. Attempt to use the program to make sure the runtime error message does not appear again.

1. Enter the Properties window. Click on the Start menu. Right click on the 'Computer' button, and left click on the 'Properties' tab that appears at the bottom of the drop-down menu.
2. Open the system properties window. The exact phrase may vary depending upon which version of Windows you are using. Left click on the 'Advanced System Settings' button located on the left side of the window.

3. Open the Performance Options window. Left click on the 'Advanced' button on the top of the window, and left click on the 'Settings' tab in the Performance section. In the Performance Options window, left click on the 'Advanced' tab once again.
4. Change the size of the virtual memory. Virtual memory is unused space on your hard drive converted into use as additional RAM. Click on the 'Change...' button. If needed, deselect the 'Automatically manage page size' box on top of the new window. Left click on the 'Custom size' button. In the 'Maximum Size (MB)' tab, enter 1,000 more than the 'Currently Allocated' amount at the bottom of the window. Finally, click on OK.

1. Insert the Windows installation disc into your computer's CD/DVD drive.
2. Close the installation window if it appears.

3. Click the 'Start' menu button located in the lower-left corner of the Windows desktop.
4. Locate the search box located in the lower-left portion of the start menu.
5. Enter the text 'run' (without quotations) and press the enter key. This will cause the 'Run' dialog box to appear.
6. Enter the text 'sfc /scannow' into the run dialog box's text box and press the 'Enter' key. This will start a scan of all the Windows system files. Any system files which are damaged or have been changed erroneously will be replace with the version that shipped with your Windows installation disc.

THE PROBLEM DESCRIPTIONWhen the computer is booted, everything looks fine initially with all the Desktop icons and the Task bar. The programs appear to be running fine. But all the icons and task bar disappears suddenly. Then it all reappears and this process continues without letting the user to perform any tasks.
This problem recurs always when the computer is booted.

THE PROBLEM IDENTIFICATIONThe above described problem appears due to corrupt EXPLORER.EXE file. This may have happened due to some trojan attack through internet file downloading. The solution in this article deals with solving this problem. However, it is recommended to reinstall Windows XP some time soon.

3. ACCESSING C:\WINDOWS FOLDERIf the task bar is not visible at all, you will need to press Ctrl Alt Del key to bring up the taskbar. Go to 'New Task' from the menu bar and enter 'explorer.exe'. You will need to do this several times if your task bar disappears again.
Go to 'C:\WINDOWS' folder through 'My Computer'. If accessing the My Computer folder is not possible then you can go to Command prompt by typing 'cmd' in the 'Run' command line and accessing the 'WINDOWS' folder from here.

COPYING AND RENAMING EXPLORER.EXE FileCopy the EXPLORER.EXE (Computer icon) file and paste it in the same folder. A file 'Copy of EXPLORER.EXE' will be created in the folder. Now change the file name to your name.exe. For example, I renamed mine to 'deshmukh.exe'

CHANGE REGISTRY - REGEDITNow go to Start >> Run and type 'regedit' and press enter key. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version\Winlogon. In this folder, you will find a sub named 'shell'. Double click it and rename the 'explorer.exe' to 'deshmukh.exe'
6. RESTARTRestart your computer after making this change. Everything will be back to normal without any problems!

1. Connect the external hard drive to the computer. Run an antivirus program. Click the 'Scan' tab or button, then click 'Custom.' Uncheck all items in the list except for the drive letter assigned to the external drive.
2. Click 'OK.' Click 'Scan' or 'Scan Now' to run a virus scan on the hard drive. Quarantine or remove any infections the virus scanner detects.

3. Click 'Start.' Input 'cmd.exe' into the search field. Press 'Enter' to open Command Prompt. Input 'chkdsk
: /f /r' into Command Prompt. Replace '
' with the letter assigned to your external hard drive.
4. Press 'Enter' to run CheckDisk on the drive. CheckDisk will search for and repair detected errors or bad sectors.
5. Burn the files on the external hard drive to a set of DVDs or move the files to another drive, if possible. If the IO device error reappears when attempting to move the files, disconnect the external hard drive from the computer.
6. Remove the power adapter from the drive. Check the documentation included with the drive for instructions to take the drive apart. If no instructions are available, contact the manufacturer for instructions or find out if disassembling the drive will void the drive's warranty.
7. Remove the screws securing the faceplate to the drive or from the edge of the enclosure. Insert the edge of a small, flathead screwdriver in between either side of the enclosure to wedge both sides apart.
8. Check the connections to the drive. Confirm that the IDE or SATA interface is plugged into the back of the drive. Reassemble the external hard drive, reconnect the power adapter and reconnect the drive to the PC.
9. Attempt to access the files on the drive. If the IO device error reappears, return to Command Prompt. Input 'format /fs:fat32
:' into the command-line prompt. Replace '
' with the letter assigned to the external hard drive.
10. Press 'y' when the message 'Proceed with Format (Y/N)?' appears. The process will format the drive, erasing all data on the disk. If the drive still fails to function after format, you will need to replace the drive.

1. Press 'Windows Key' 'R.' This loads a Run box.
2. Type 'Sysdm.cpl' and press 'Enter.' This loads a System Properties window.

3. Click the 'Advanced' tab.
4. Click the 'Settings' button under 'Startup and Recovery.'
5. Uncheck the box next to 'Automatically restart' under 'System Failure.' Press 'OK.' This change takes effect immediately.

1. Click your 'Start' menu and click 'Control Panel.'
2. Click 'Programs' and click 'Programs and Features.'

3. Scroll down to 'Microsoft .NET Framework.' Uninstall each version by clicking the 'Uninstall' button on top of the list of programs with each version selected.
4. Click the first link in Resources to get to the download page for the .NET Framework. Wait for the download to start and choose where to save the file.
5. Double-click the installer from the location you downloaded it to. Click 'Next' and follow the installation instructions until you must click 'Finish.' Click the button and restart your computer.

1. Click the 'Start' button and then click the 'Search' bar in the menu.
2. Type 'sfc /scannow' into the search bar and press 'Enter.'

3. Wait for the scan to complete, which can take anywhere from 2 to 55 minutes.
4. Click the 'Restart' button when prompted. Once the computer restarts, the MDM.exe error will be resolved.

Automatic Downloads
1. Open Windows Media Player, click on 'Tools' and then click 'Options.'
2. Click on the 'Player' tab, then check the box next to 'Download Codecs Automatically.'

3. Click 'OK' and then try to play the video again. If you are prompted to install a codec, click 'Install.'
Microsoft Fix-It Center
4. Go to the Microsoft Fix It Solution Center and click on the 'Microsoft Fix It' icon next to the 'Video Freezes or Crashes in Windows Programs' heading.
5. Click on 'Run.'
6. Click 'Continue' or 'Allow.' The Microsoft Fix It Tool will automatically scan your computer and detect the root problem causing the codec errors. The tool will fix the problem itself or provide you with additional resources to help you fix the problem.

1. View hard disks in your computer by clicking 'Start' and 'My Computer.'
2. Right-click the name of a hard disk under 'Hard Disk Drives' and click 'Properties.'

3. Click 'Tools' in the hard disk's properties window.
4. Open the chkdisk window by clicking 'Check Now.'
5. Click both checkboxes in the window, 'Automatically Fix File System Errors' and 'Scan For and Attempt Recovery of Bad Sectors.'
6. Scan for and fix disk errors by clicking 'Start.'
7. Click 'Yes' if you're asked to restart your computer, then click 'Start,' 'Turn Off Computer' and 'Restart.' Windows fixes disk errors after restarting.

1. Click the 'Start' button on your desktop and then enter 'regedit' into the 'Start Search' text box.
2. Select the 'regedit.exe' option from the 'Program' list and the Registry Editor dialog box will then appear on your screen.

3. Click the 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE' option and then click the 'Software' option. Click the 'Microsoft' option and then click the 'Windows' option.
4. Click the 'CurrentVersion' option and then select the 'Policies' option. Double-click the 'System' option.
5. Select the 'Edit' option if you can't locate the LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy entry. Move your mouse over the 'New' option and click the 'DWORD Value' command.
6. Enter 'LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy' into the text box and then click the 'OK' button. Right-click on the 'LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy' entry you just added and then click the 'Modify' option.
7. Enter '1' for the 'Value data' field and then click the 'OK' button. Close out of the registry and then restart your computer.

1. Click the 'Start' button then type 'regedit' in the search box at the bottom of the 'Start' menu if you are using Windows 7 or Windows Vista. Press 'Enter.' In Windows XP, click 'Start' and 'Run,' then type 'regedit' in the dialog box.
2. Navigate to the 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE,' 'SYSTEM,' 'CurrentControlSet,' 'Services' and 'mfeapfk' folders on the left side of the window. Click the 'mfeapfk' folder.

3. Double-click 'ImagePath' on the right side of the window.
4. Change the information in the 'Value Data' box from 'system32\drivers\mfeapfk.sys' to 'c:\windows\system32\drivers\mfeapfk.sys' and click 'OK.'
5. Close the registry editor and restart the computer. McAfee VirusScan Enterprise should now function normally.

1. Open your browser and go to the Service Pack 4 web page on Microsoft's website (see the first link in Resources).
2. Click the 'Download' button. Wait for the download to come up or click the link mentioned on the new page for the download. Save the file to a directory you will remember if you choose not to open it right away.

3. Browse to the location you downloaded the file to and double-click it to open it.
4. Click 'Next' and follow the installation wizard. Restart your computer when the wizard completes your installation. Don't forget to save your work before restarting.

Remove Temp Files
1. Open 'Computer' from either your desktop or the 'Start' menu.
2. Open the 'C:' drive from the list.

3. Open the 'Temp' folder.
4. Press the 'Ctrl' and the 'A' keys on your keyboard, then press 'Delete.' When asked to confirm, click 'Yes.'
5. Attempt to install Transformers again.
Shutdown Idriver.exe
6. Press the 'Ctrl', 'Shift' and 'Esc' keys on your keyboard. This brings up the Task Manager.
7. Click 'Name' to sort processes by name. Select 'Idriver.exe' from the list.
8. Click the 'End Process' button. When asked to confirm, click 'Yes.'
9. Attempt to install Transformers again.
