1. Launch your Windows Live Messenger by clicking its icon on your desktop.
2. Click the 'Tools' menu on your Messenger, and click 'Options.'
3. Click 'Connection' on the left side menu within your Options menu.
4. Click 'Advanced Settings' and delete all content in the field titled 'SOCKS.'
5. Click 'OK' twice in the following prompts and attempt to open your Windows Messenger again. It should start without Error 81000306.
