A Blue Screen Error While Installing Windows XP
1. Remove any USB flash drives from your computer and try installing Windows XP again.
2. Try removing from your computer some of the old hardware, such as modems, hard drives, floppy drives and USB peripherals, and repeat the Windows XP installation to see if you still get a blue screen. Most times, your computer blue screens because of compatibility issues during a Windows XP installation. Get hardware that claims it has XP compatibility. Vista and Windows 7 compatible hardware also works.
3. Restart your computer and start the XP installation normally until it tells you that “Setup is inspecting your computer's hardware configuration” message. Press 'F5' when you see this. Select the proper abstraction layer for your computer, depending on the processors your computer has. A dual core computer counts as a dual processor computer, and so on.
