1. Click 'Start' on the desktop, followed by 'Control Panel.'
2. Open 'Device Manager' and select the CD or DVD drive on the computer.

3. Click the 'Drivers' tab. Select 'Uninstall Drivers' from the list of driver options.
4. Accept the changes and restart the computer. The drivers will now be removed, which will create Error Code 39 the next time the drive is accessed.
