Windows

1. Go to 'Start.' Select 'Run' and type 'regedit.'
2. Go to the registry key labeled 'HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\%ServiceName%\Parameters.'

3. Check the corresponding DLL file name value for ServiceDLL.
4. Check the location that is mentioned in the key ServiceDLL and make sure that the file is there.
5. Copy the file from a working server with the same operating system and service pack level if you do not find the information in the location mentioned in the registry key HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\%ServiceName%\Parameters\serviceDLL.
6. Start the service or program you were trying to use when you originally received the error message; it should run successfully without any more errors.

1. Close Internet Explorer, then click the 'Start' button. Type 'regedit' in the search box if you are running Vista or in the run box if you are running older versions of Windows. Hit 'Enter.'
2. Highlight 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl' by clicking on it.

3. Highlight 'New' in the edit menu and click 'Key.'
4. Type 'FEATURE_ERROR_PAGE_BYPASS_ZONE_CHECK_FOR_HTTPS_KB954312' in the new key box and hit 'Enter.'
5. Highlight 'New' in the edit menu and choose 'DWORD Value.'
6. Type 'iexplore.exe' in the value box and hit 'Enter.'
7. Choose 'Modify' in the edit menu and enter '1' in the modification area. Click 'OK.'
8. Close the registry editor and open Internet Explorer to see if the certificate error problem is fixed.

1. Close any programs you are not using. If you are using the Windows Vista sidebar, be sure to close that.
2. Open up your task manager in Windows XP or Vista to see which running programs are using the most memory. Under the 'Process' tab will be a number of programs that are currently running on your computer.

3. Select 'View' and 'Select Columns'. In XP, check the box that reads 'Virtual Memory Size'; in Vista, it's the 'Commit Memory' option. This will display which programs are using the most virtual memory. Sort the column by size from largest to smallest. You can do this by pressing the column name.
4. Examine each program by name and usage. The longer a program is on without shutting down, the more virtual memory it will potentially use. If you are no longer using the program, end the process.
5. Consider re-installing or removing the ended programs all together. You should conduct an Internet search for any programs that you are unfamiliar with.
6. Run your start up menu program, which is commonly known as 'msconfig.' Select the 'Start up' tab to see which programs automatically run when you start up your computer. Deselect any programs you are familiar with that you may not actively use upon start, such as some toolbar or chat programs. Consider deselecting any programs you ended in Step 4. Re-boot your computer.

1. Click the 'Start' menu in the bottom-left corner of the screen, then enter 'cmd' in the blank field above the Start menu.
2. Right-click the 'cmd' icon and click 'Run as administrator' in the shortcut menu. A pop-up window appears, asking for your administrator password. Enter your administrator password and press 'Enter' to proceed.

3. Type 'regsvr32 vbscript.dll' in the command window, then press 'Enter.'
4. Click 'OK' once the VBScript registration confirmation window is displayed, then double-click the iTunes installation icon on your desktop to launch the software installation wizard.
5. Click 'Next' in the installation setup wizard, and select your preferred language from the drop-down menu. Click the boxes next to 'Install desktop shortcuts' and 'Use iTunes as the default player for audio files.' Click the box next to 'Install Apple Software Update to easily update iTunes and other Apple software.'
6. Click the 'Install' button to install iTunes and QuickTime, and click the boxes next to 'Add MP3 and AAC files' and 'Add WMA files.' Click the 'Next' button and click 'Yes' or 'No' to have iTunes organize your music folder.
7. Click the 'Restart Now' to restart your computer. If the installation completes without displaying error 2738, the problem was successfully corrected.
8. Click the 'Start' menu button on your desktop's taskbar, move your cursor to 'All Programs' and click 'iTunes' on the pop-up menu to run iTunes.

1. Click 'Start' and type 'CMD' in the search box. Right-click the 'Command Prompt' icon and click 'Run as Administrator.' A blank Command Prompt window opens.
2. Type 'regsvr32 %windir%/System32/vbscript.dll' and press 'Enter.' The message 'C:\Windows\System32/vbscript.dll has been successful' displays on the screen.

3. Close the Command Prompt window by clicking the 'X' in the upper-right corner.

Method One
1. Click on the 'Start' menu, and click on 'Control Panel.'
2. Click on 'Uninstall a Program' under 'Programs.'

3. Click on 'Turn Windows features on or off' in the left pane. A new window will open.
4. Uncheck the box next to 'Internet Explorer 8' (or whatever version of Internet Explorer you have) and click 'OK.'
5. Go to the link in Resources and download the current version of Internet Explorer. This should fix the Mshtml.dll file. If it does not, continue to the next method.
Method Two
6. Click on the 'Start' menu, and click on 'Run.'
7. Type 'cmd' (without the quotation marks) into the open box and click 'OK.' The Command Prompt window will open.
8. Type 'regsvr32 Mshtml.dll' (without the quotation marks) into the Command Prompt window and press 'Enter.' This will re-register the Mshtml.dll file.
9. Restart your computer.

1. Simultaneously press the Windows and 'R' keys on the keyboard simultaneously. The 'Run' command window will appear.
2. Type 'regedit' with no quotation marks into the Run window and press 'Enter.' This will launch the Registry Editor.

3. Double click the folders on the left half of the screen to browse to 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER,' 'Software,' 'Microsoft,' 'Internet Explorer,' 'Desktop' and 'Components.'
4. Find the entry labeled 'DeskHtmlVersion' on the right half of the screen, and double click it. In the 'Value data' box, you may see the number '272' or some other value.
5. Change the number in the 'Value data' box to '0' and click 'OK.'
6. Close the window, and restart your computer. If the 'Restore My Active Desktop' link is still present after the computer restarts, click it to bring your Active Desktop scripts back.

1. Go to your 'Start' menu and click 'Run'.
2. Type 'cmd' in the box inside of your 'Run' dialog.

3. Type 'net stop WuAuServ' to stop the Windows Automatic Update service. You cannot change the configuration without stopping it.
4. Type the following command in the command prompt: cd %windir%. This changes the directory to your Windows installation directory. Type also 'ren SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution_.' The command you typed renames the configuration for Windows Update. When you restart the service, you'll get a fresh new configuration that won't leak out memory.
5. Type 'net start WuAuServ' to start the service again. Restart your computer after you finish.

1. Go to 'Start' and click on 'Run.'
2. Type 'cmd' in the run dialog box and then click on 'OK.'

3. Type 'netsh winsock reset' at the command prompt and then press 'Enter.'

Fixing the 'NTLDR Is Missing Error'
1. Turn off your computer and insert the Windows XP Restore CD. Turn your computer back on and wait for the message 'Press any key to boot from CD...' Press any key on your keyboard to launch the Restore program. When the program boots, you will see an option to press 'R' to restore your XP Operating System. Press that key to begin the restore process.
2. Press the number related to the Windows XP set up you want to fix. Typically, this is simply the number '1' but if you have multiple operating systems installed, it may vary. Next you will be asked for your administrator password. Enter your password or press 'Enter' if you have not set one.

3. Type the following set of commands into the MS-DOS prompt that will appear:
D:\ or if your DVD/CD drive is at another location enter that location such as E:\ or F:\ then type 'copy D:\i386\ntldr c:\' then press 'Enter' followed by 'copy e:\i386\ntdetect.com c:\'
Press 'Enter' and type 'fixboot.' Press 'Enter' and type 'fixmbr.' Press 'Enter' and finally type 'bootcfg /rebuild' and then press 'Enter.'
4. After pressing 'Enter' the final time, your computer will walk you through the steps. The options to watch for will be the system you are repairing. This will be the same system you selected at the repair screen. Again, you will typically only have 1 operating system to choose from. Also, you will be asked for an 'identifier.' It is suggested you type in the full name of your operating system for easy search reasons at a later time.
5. Allow the process to complete and then remove your CD/DVD from the computer. Type 'Exit' and press 'Enter.' Your computer will not restart and should launch right back into your Windows XP set up.
