Run Chkdsk F in Windows XP
1. Be aware that it is no longer necessary to run Chkdsk F from the DOS command line. You can still do it this way if you'd like (open the DOS command line and type 'chkdsk /f'), but Chkdsk is now integrated into Windows itself.
2. Run Windows XP normally, allowing it to load fully.

3. Access the 'My Computer' menu. You can do this by clicking the Start menu and clicking the 'My Computer' menu option. You can also double-click the 'My Computer' icon if you've enabled it on your desktop.
4. Right-click on the drive on which you wish to run the Chkdsk F command.
5. Click 'Properties' in the right-click context menu.
6. Click on the 'Tools' tab in the Properties window.
7. Click on the 'Check Now' button in the 'Error-checking' frame of the Tools tab.
8. Click in the 'Automatically fix file system errors' check box under the 'Check disk options' frame in the following window. This is the step which enables the '/f' command in Chkdsk.
9. Click 'Start' to begin the Chkdsk scan. If there are a lot of processes running in the background, or if Chkdsk determines that it should be run when you next restart your computer, it will suggest it. It is always advisable to run the Chkdsk from the restart in this case.
10. Set your system to safe mode with the '/SAFEBOOT' command from the MSCONFIG program. Click 'Start' and 'Run.' Type 'MSCONFIG' and enable the '/SAFEBOOT' option from the BOOT.INI tab if your anti-virus or anti-spyware software is conflicting with the Chkdsk process.

1. Press 'Start' on your taskbar. Highlight and click on 'Search' from the 'Administrator' menu box. Select 'All files and folders' and under 'All or part of the file name' type '*.tmp' in the search box. Click the menu arrow and select 'Local Hard Drives (C:) and press the 'Search' button.
2. Wait for Windows to finish searching for the files and then delete the files that are displayed in the 'Search Results' box. This step will delete all of the temporary files on your computer.

3. Run Windows' 'Cleanmgr.exe' tool. Press the 'Start' button and select 'Run' from the menu box. Type 'cleanmgr' in the run command box. Next, click the 'OK' button. The tool will delete any unnecessary files that are on your computer's hard disk.
4. Use the 'System File Checker' utility to scan your computer and locate any corrupt or missing files. Press the 'Start' button and select 'Run' from the menu box. Next, type 'sfc/scannow' in the command box and press 'OK.' If the utility finds any missing or corrupted files, you may need to insert the Windows installation CD into your CD/DVD drive, so that the utility can replace the damaged or missing files.
5. Browse the Internet and search for a reputable registry software utility. For instance, RegCure can fix EXE and other types of errors that are affecting your computer's performance. Download and install the utility on your computer. Click on the RegCure icon to start the setup installation.
6. Run RegCure utility, so that it will scan your computer and fix the 'EXE' errors. The utility will repair and optimize your Windows registry.

1. Change up the speed you're burning your DVDs at. If you're trying to burn at high speed, it might be too much for your computer to handle, so change it to a medium or slow burn speed by going back to the DVD page and select 'Add Pictures and Videos.' Then change the 'DVD Burner Speed' box to a lower speed.
2. Close out all other programs while you are burning your DVD, and don't open any programs during burning. This can give you the memory needed to burn correctly.

3. Take out any unnecessary, running hardware that's connected to your computer, such as an MP3 player that's charging on your computer. This will also help the burning process go along.
4. Defragment your computer files by going to the 'Start' menu on your desktop and select 'Computer.' Once in the Computer location, right click on your main hard drive (most likely the 'C:\' drive) and select 'Properties.' In the Properties box, select the 'Tools' tab, and then hit 'Defragment Now' to defragment your computer and clear up space so that your burning will go faster.

1. Click the 'Start' menu and then go to the 'All Programs' button.
2. Click the 'Accessories' button and then right-click on 'Command Prompt.'

3. Click the 'Run as administrator' option and enter your administrator password into the field that appears.
4. Type 'sfc /scannow' (without the quotation marks) into the Command prompt and press your 'Enter' key.
5. Wait for the computer to fix your socket error. A progress bar will be displayed on your computer screen to tell you how far along the process is. Restart the computer after the repair has finished.

How to Fix a Winlogon.exe Application Error
1. Press 'Start' and then 'Run.' Type SFC.EXE/SCANNOW to run the System File Checker. Click 'Enter.' System File Checker is included in all modern versions of Windows, such as XP, Vista and Windows 7.
2. Insert the Windows installation CD if requested. The System File Checker will begin the process of transferring or replacing any missing files, onto your computer. Restart your computer after the process is complete.

3. Enter safe mode by pressing 'F8' immediately upon restarting. Safe mode starts your computer while only loading the programs and drivers required to run your operating system.
4. Turn on your virus protection program, and run a complete scan on your computer. If you do not have a form of virus protection on your computer, install one before continuing. Most Internet providers offer a free version of antivirus software to their customers. If your provider does not offer a free version, purchase a copy at your local retail store or download a free or trial version.
5. Reboot your computer normally. If these steps do not solve the Winlogon.exe application error, repair your system from the Windows installation CD (see next section).
Repair Your Computer System
6. Insert the Windows Installation CD and reboot your computer.
7. Click 'Enter' when prompted, to enter Windows Installation Setup.
8. Press 'F8' when prompted, to accept the terms.
9. Use the keyboard to select the current version of Windows, and press 'R.' Your computer will begin the process of repairing your system. After the process is complete, your computer will reboot and allow you to continue normal use.

1. Turn off the computer using the computer power switch. Eject the disk from the floppy drive.
2. Turn on the computer. Wait for the Windows 95 start screen to come up. The error should be gone and you can insert the floppy disk again.

3. Double-click 'My Computer.' Select the 'A:' drive to read the contents of the floppy disk.

Terminate idriver.exe and msiexec.exe Processes
1. Click 'Start,' type 'taskmgr' in the Search box and then press 'Enter.'
2. Click the 'Processes' tab on the Windows Task Manager dialog box that opens.

3. Click 'idriver.exe' in the 'Image Name' column and then click the 'End Process' button.
4. Click 'End Process' in the confirmation dialog box that opens.
5. Click 'msiexec.exe' in the 'Image Name' column, click 'End Process' and then click 'End Process' in the confirmation dialog box.
Create a New Windows Account
6. Click 'Start,' type 'Add or remove user accounts' in the Search box and then press 'Enter.'
7. Click 'Create a new account' in the Manage Accounts window that opens.
8. Type a name for the account that you are creating in the 'New account name' box.
9. Click the 'Administrator' radio button and then click 'Create Account.'
10. Click 'Start,' click the rightward pointing arrow next to the 'Shut Down' button and then select 'Log off.'
11. Log into your computer using the new account that you created and then install the game.

1. Make sure you have enough disk space on the device you're trying to move the files to. After deleting files, the problem will most likely be resolved.
2. If that doesn't work, create another file folder on the device you're trying to copy the files to. Then copy the files into the new folder.Sometimes storage devices get finicky if there are too many files in one folder or if the file names are too long. Copying the files into another folder on the same device can get around this issue.

3. Restart your computer, which might free up RAM that is preventing the file from being moved.

1. Click on the Windows 'Start' button. Type 'regedit' into the text box, and press 'Enter.' This opens your Windows registry editor.
2. Navigate to 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows Script Host\Settings\' in the registry. Right-click the 'Enabled' key in the center detail pane, and select 'Modify.' Type '0' into the 'Value' text box and click on 'OK.'

3. Navigate to 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows Script Host\Settings\' in the registry. Right-click the 'Enabled' key in the detail pane and select 'Modify.' In the opened dialog box, type '0' in the 'Value' text box. Click on 'OK.'
4. Reboot your computer. Changes to the registry take effect when you reboot.

1. Click the 'Start' button and then click the 'Search' box.
2. Type 'update' into the search box and then press the 'Enter' button. Click on the 'Windows Update' icon from the menu.

3. Click the 'Check for updates' option at the top left side of the screen.
4. Click the 'Install Updates' option from the bottom of the screen.
5. Enter your administrator password into the field that appears if prompted. If you are the only user on the system you will not have to enter your password because you are the administrator by default.
6. Wait for the updates to install on your system. This could take up to an hour, depending on the amount of updates needed for your computer.
7. Click 'Restart' when prompted to restart your computer. When the computer restarts, the newest version of the Windows Installer will be installed on the system.
