1. Click the Windows logo or the 'Start' button in the lower left corner of the desktop. Select 'Control Panel.'
2. Double-click 'Devices and Printers' on the Control Panel window that opens in Windows 7/Vista. Double-click 'Printers and Faxes' in Windows XP.
3. Right-click the printer icon, then click 'Printing Preferences.'
4. Click the 'Advanced' tab on the 'Printing Preferences' dialog box.
5. Click the ' ' sign next to 'Document Options' to expand it.
6. Click the ' ' sign next to 'Printer Features.'
7. Click the 'Print Data Optimization' drop-down box and select 'Optimize for Text and Vector.'
8. Click 'Apply,' then choose 'OK.'
